Photo Cutouts provide seaside boards for ITVBe’s The Only Way Is Essex

Popular ITVBe reality show, The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE), approached Photo Cutouts earlier in May, for help in dressing the set for their seaside themed, end of season party.

Filming for the finale took place in the rear garden of the stunning venue The House in Crow Lane, Clacton-on-Sea on Thursday 16th May. The full cast were pictured attending including Shelby Tribble and Sam Mucklow (pictured). The party was to have a seaside themed, festival atmosphere to match the location and who better to supply traditional seaside party props than us.Shelby and Sam having fun with face in the hole board

We specialise in the production of the traditional pier pastime of face in the hole boards. And it was this seaside range which caught the eyes of the ITVBe team. https://www.photocutouts.co.uk/buy-seaside-peep-boards.htm

Seaside face in the hole boards

Photo Cutouts supplied the TOWIE team with a range of seaside face in the hole boards to add some fun to the bash. The designs were the traditional saucy postcard style featuring overweight ladies and skinny gents – perfect for creating funny photo opportunities with the cast. The show aired on Sunday 26th May and is available on ITV on Demand, where you will spot newcomer Joey Turner using the Photo Cutouts ‘Strong John’ face in the hole board.

Sister company, Fun4Guests also got in on the fun. Fun4Guests supplied a range of party hire props, including a vintage Kissing Booth to add some romance to the bash.  Kissing Booth TOWIE Screenshot

The season finale party was a huge success and a lot of fun. Photo Cutouts and Fun4Guests were delighted to be involved in our neighbouring counties TV series.

In case you missed it, ITVBe’s reality TV hit is available to watch on catch up for free via the ITV Hub.

Theme of the Week: Animals!

Animals
Tiger and panda in a promotional board for Animalz face masks.

Looking back at the photo cutouts we’ve made, we’ve realised that they often feature animals. The reasons for this are as varied as our clients, but it seems that many charities, brands and products have chosen to feature animals in their photo cutouts. It’s the same in advertising. Think how many brands have an animal as their mascot. So this week we’re featuring our animal friends. Welcome to the Photo Cutouts zoo!

Horses

A four-legged friend will never let you down – and neither will we! Here are some equine boards from the last year or two.

Summer event boards

Get your Summer event boards designed soon!

Don’t laugh! Right now we might be scraping ice off our cars every morning, but the weather will be warmer before we know it, and the Summer events season will be upon us. Our first Photo Cutouts were born from the traditional idea of the Summer seaside face in the hole board, and they are still timeless classics. We started out with cheeky traditional boards like ‘Fat Lady on the Beach’ and ‘Skinny Jimmy the Lifeguard’. Now we’ve got a lot of varied designs that come at the classic theme from different angles. Here are a few of them. They might give you an idea for a design of your own (you can have logos, branding etc. on your board to promote your brand, cause, or event!)

Blue Flag England, Summer event boards

Our Summer event boards have all the fun of the seaside. We update the designs all the time to bring something new to the concept. The boards are printed with your own design or ours – if you have artwork to send over, we’ll print it for you onto durable, waterproof PVC board that’s sturdy and stands on stable feet so it won’t blow over or fall down in anything except a hurricane (not wishing to tempt fate!)

Beach boards celebrate our coastal culture

This week we’ll take a break from the booming custom made boards side of our business and get back to basics with the boards that started it all: colourful seaside fat lady on the beach-style face in hole boards. Nostalgic and fun, they hark back to the saucy postcards of naughty artist Donald McGill and have become a vintage classic and a cherished part of our coastal heritage.

They are perfect for seaside parties, beach-themed parties, birthdays, seaside weddings and company events (we can brand them if required).

Take your pick from our cheeky, postcard-style, traditional beach designs. Choose from Punch and Judy, Ethel and Ernie, Skinny Jimmy, Betty and Billy, Fat Mabel, Little Johnny, Thin Tim & Big Bertha, Doris and Dick and Strong John to add to your event. Perfect for use at school fêtes, parties and family fun days.

Here she is … the original Fat Lady on the Beach! Isn’t she lovely?

We think traditional British coastal culture is worth preserving, and it’s nice to see it thriving in a few areas, but much more can be done. Here’s a link to a blog post we made last year which talks about the Seaside Heritage Network, an initiative to catalogue and preserve our valuable coastal cultural assets.

Our seaside boards don’t take as long to make as custom boards, because the designs are already done and we can get the boards out to you in just a few days as opposed to two weeks or more for a custom board. That makes them ideal for last-minute party planning – all we need is a week’s notice. Why not add one to your Summer party, beach event, birthday party? It adds so much fun and is bound to produce some memorable photos!

Jim is a complete superstar. As our lead designer and board maker, he oversees the process of making a board from your initial enquiry through the design stage to creating a sturdy, weatherproof, durable photo cutout board for your event, wedding, party, fundraising drive or cause.

More peep board action from around Britain!

England cricketer Kevin Pietersen was spotted by the Daily Mail with his head in a peep board alongside pictures of current England players Alastair Cook, Steven Finn and Ben Stokes. The joke is that Pietersen hasn’t been selected to play for England since the disastrous Ashes series of 2013-14 and a bit of a kerfuffle about derogatory text messages. Pietersen tweeted the photo with the message, ‘Please pick me!’

The board, sponsored by Waitrose, was for a competition to win the chance to be an England Cricket Mascot. Pietersen will do anything to get back on the pitch with England, even if he’s the mascot!

Residents of Uppermill, near Oldham, Greater Manchester staged a seaside musical and just had to create a seaside face in hole board to complete the fun atmosphere. This one is in the Fat Lady and Skinny Man tradition – here’s our version of the much-loved classic.

The Royal Norfolk Show had a King Kong face in hole board mocked up as the front page of the Eastern Daily Times. The giant ape is seen clinging to the spire of Norwich Cathedral. It was part of an appearance and cook-in by TV chef James Martin, host of Saturday Kitchen.

And landlocked Harborough, Leicestershire, held a ‘Harborough-by-the-Sea’ event in the town square to give residents some idea of what being by the seaside is actually like, including a sandpit ‘beach’ and, of course, beach and nautical-themed photo cutout boards to give that seaside feel. It was a bit like the time The Sun newspaper used one of our boards to give the children of Coton-in-the-Elms, the farthest village from the coast in Great Britain, a taste of the beach by importing sand, buckets and spades, and an inflatable palm tree.

If you’re looking for an entertaining idea for a party, business promotion, corporate event or wedding, we have the whole range of boards to choose from to hire or buy. Check out our designs here and call for our reasonable rates!

Photo cutout boards: as featured in The Sun!

This is a throwback to 2014 when The Sun sent their ‘beach expert’ reporter Mike Ridley on a mercy mission to take a beach to the village of Coton-in-the-Elms near Burton on Trent. The village has the unenviable distinction of being the furthest village from the coast in Great Britain. The nearest beach is 70 miles away and was chosen because statistics show that 38% of youngsters under 16 have never been to the seaside.

The Sun, newspaper, photo cutout board, most landlocked village,
The Sun used one of our photo cutout boards for their mercy mission to Coton-in-the Elms, the most landlocked village in England

The nearest beaches are 70 miles away and the closest seaside resort is Skegness — 80 miles from the village.

The Sun chose a Photocutouts.co.uk photo cutout board as part of their attempt to recreate the atmosphere of the seaside for those poor landlocked kids. Along with several tonnes of sand, buckets and spades, and an inflatable palm tree. The children soaked each other with water and got sand stuck to themselves, discovering the delights of the British coast from a distance.

The photo cutout board was a hit, of course. There’s something so irresistible about them. You see one and just have to poke your face through it and shout ‘Look at me!’. The Currant Bun shot a nice video of the event which includes our board and kids having fun with it. You can watch it by clicking this link.

With Summer 2016 on its way, why not create your own inland beach scene for a party or event? A photocutouts.co.uk seaside-themed photo cutout board will complete the scene. Everybody knows them, everybody loves them. They can be branded to your company for corporate events, awards ceremonies, trade shows and parties, or personalised for weddings!  We have a range of designs you can find here.

Boards can be hired or purchased and designed to your specifications or theme if you require a bespoke board.

Go on – you know you want one!

Photo cutout boards to present your Awards!

A fun new twist to the glitz and glamour of awards ceremonies

Peep boards are a popular feature at awards ceremonies because they add an interactive element of fun. Most recently, the Isle of Wight Awards run by myisleofwight.com used a photo cutout board at its awards ceremony on the 19th of January 2016. The ‘Ethel and Ernie’ board from our range set the seaside theme perfectly and here are two of the awards winners proudly showing off their medal while disguised as the saucy seaside characters.

photo cutout board, photo op board, face in the hole board, awards ceremony

How often we see award recipients posing for a photo, being handed their award by an official and wearing an awkward, frozen smile! Why not make your awards ceremony different? One way to do it is to have photocutouts.co.uk make a mockup of the award itself that winners can poke their faces through for a photo opportunity. This is known as a standee or photo op board. Photocutouts.co.uk are happy to create this type of board for you. Just let us know your requirements and we can create a bespoke board with logos and custom lettering.

In addition to awards ceremonies, face in the hole boards are a great marketing tool at any business event. We work with you on the design until it says exactly what you want to say about your business. The boards help to create a buzz around your brand at trade shows, promotional events and of course awards ceremonies. Here are a few we’ve made that have worked brilliantly:

Can you imagine having a photo cutout board for your business? How best to communicate what your company stands for and has to offer? The options are limitless, and photocutouts.co.uk works with you to create the perfect photo op board that you can use time and time again to make your events fun and memorable. Not forgetting that because it’s a photo board, people will tend to take lots of photos of it – with your company branding all over it! And of course in this day and age photos get shared a lot. So photo boards not only create a buzz at the event itself, but keep on giving in the form of shared online photos.

Whether the birthday boy wants to ride a donkey or be the strong man on the pier, the photo cutouts are bound to create some giggles!

4.  Plaster your pals or teachers with wet sponges in the stocks
